On 19 August 2021, 15-year-old student Hugo Ahlfors Jackson attempted mass murder at Källeberg's School in Eslöv, Sweden. He stabbed a teacher and unsuccessfully attempted suicide by cop by aiming an airsoft pistol at first responders.

Friday morning on November 7, 1980, it was a cool day in Sundsvall, Sweden. It was snowing, windy, and cold.

Anna-Clara Asplund also had a cold when she woke up. But she still got up and prepared to go to work as a teacher for the nursing program at the nursing school.

She served sandwiches and hot chocolate to her 11-year-old son Johan while he was in bed before school, a morning routine they had had for years.

In the afternoon, Johan's father Bjorn would pick him up. Johan's parents were divorced, but he still had a good relationship with both of them. Johan planned to accompany his father to hiz home in Solleftea over the weekend. Anna-Clara had bought a new shirt for Johan to wear when he went to school and she put it on his bed. She then hugged him goodbye, not knowing it would be the last time she would ever see her son.

She suspected her ex-boyfriend, a 41-year-old man she had broken up with the previous year and who had never been named publicly, to be responsible. When they were together, he was often controlling and abusive, threatening to murder Johan to get back at her. But this could never be proven, so he was never charged, although her ex-boyfriend's car was seen at the house shortly after she had left for work that day, and Johan was reported absent from school that day. He also seemed unconcerned with finding Johan and didn't attend his memorial, even though he had been Johan's stepfather.

Because of privacy laws, the press dubbed her ex-boyfriend "Johanmannen," or "Johan man" in English.

"Bjorn and I divorced when he was 3 years old," said Anna-Clara, "and after that, strong bonds were formed between us. The first ten years after his disappearance, whenever I saw a boy who looked like him, it cut into me deeply. I would have a reoccurring dream where I was looking for Johan and was close to finding him. But I never quite got there, and when I woke up, I was completely covered in cold sweat. The worst part wasn't falling asleep, because I did that out of sheer exhaustion. The worst part was waking up. I knew he would never voluntarily leave me. He would say, 'Mom, it doesn't matter if you're gone one night, but I want to wake up with you in the morning.'"

She added, "I am sure of who is behind his disappearance. It is a person with whom I have had a close relationship and whom I met after my divorce from Bjorn. When I broke up with him, he could never accept it, and began to stalk me. He is a person I think Johan trusted. At the same time, this man knew Johan was my everything, and that the worst way to hurt me was to take Johan away from me. Even if the case is time-barred, I just want to know the truth."
